This is a one-man project created in 3 days for Ludum Dare 55

Instructions:

In-Game you will find some instructions when pressing the ? in the top left corner. This will also pause the game. To play you only really need your mouse. You can switch to fullscreen and back with Alt + Enter. Double-press (Esc) to Quit or (R) to Restart.

And yes - This was inspired by the old classic flash game Age Of War. I always wanted to make this type of game. So this gamejam was the perfect opportunity. If you remember that game you will know how to play this one.

Great game!
Normal put up a decent challenge until I found a working strat.

Only gripe is the music loop is quite noticeable.

Overall great work though! Enjoyed my time with it :)

very very slow, the game seems to pull bullshit whenever I get close to his base and starts spawning an impossible amount of slimes.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I did go to far with the balancing and it's too balanced now, making a back and forth inevitable.

The opponent will go through phases of saving up mana and spending all their mana. When you damage his base he will immediately spend some of that mana to push back on your attack. So maybe you hit him in the middle of him saving up on mana which is why he was able to spawn so many slimes. But keep in mind that every slime you kill will also grant you a lot of mana to use on your own attack. So its not really a bad thing.

You can also try lowering the difficulty level or starting a new round where the AI will behave differently.
